KOTI Industrial and Technical Brushes is family-owned company and has grown to include 14 established companies worldwide. Being a family-owned company allows us to be more committed to customer service and gives us access to a wealth of knowledge in brush technology. The KOTI Group objective is to add value to their customer processes. The enormous quality and quantity of specialized knowledge allows the KOTI Group to provide the best possible support to its customers.
KOTI Industrial and Technical Brushes is family-owned company founded in 1966 in Weert (NL), by the then 23-year-old John van Kouwen and his 21-year-old wife Sonja Christiaens-Van Kouwen.
In honour of the birth of their daughter Nathalie van Kouwen, John and Sonja establish a company in Belgium, called NABO, meaning "Nathalie’s Borstels”. This means Nathalie’s Brushes in Dutch.
Since 1993, KOTI has been leading the way as one of the first manufacturers in Europe to have been awarded ISO 9002. Nowadays KOTI belongs with ISO 9001 to the world’s top European suppliers of industrial processing brushes.
1998 is the year of the Big Move. With time KOTI has grown from a two-person company to a company with approximately 55 professionals. The machine park has been greatly expanded through innovation and development. As a result the building of the “Graafschap Hornelaan” in Weert ( NL ) is exchanged for a new larger premises on the “Celsiusstraat” in Weert ( NL ). With the move , the KOTI logo is also given a new look. Meanwhile, Nathalie Huybreckx-Van Kouwen and her husband Michel Huybreckx have also joined the management and the board thus consists of four family members.
The French production company Tribollet is acquired by KOTI in 2003. Founded by Mr. and Mrs. Tribollet it is a family business and fits perfectly with the KOTI Group.
Dawson, founded in 1868, is a British production company and acquired the company Brushes and Engineering in the late 80’s. In 2005, "Dawson - Brushes and Engineering " was taken over by the KOTI Group.
In 2007 the KOTI Group expands with a production plant in a European country, in Austria. Kobra, founded in 1888 by Konrad Brandtner, is a fourth generation family business and an excellent addition to the group.
To put emphasise in the international growth ambitions, the KOTI Group changes the domestic house style of its production facilities and sale offices. In the course of 2010, the company names and colours are adjusted in order to increase the recognisability of the group domestically and internationally. In addition, the goal with the new look is to connect more effectively customers, sales, technical staff, administrative staff and subsidiary companies together. So that as a group we can share our talents, knowledge and ideas. This cooperation results in innovative brush solutions that contribute to responsible growth of the organization and stability for our customers and employees.
As of March 2012 the German brush manufacturer Kullen Group and subsidiary companies are part of the KOTI Group of companies. With the addition of these specialised production units and sales outlets to the KOTI Group, we strengthen our position as a market leader within Europe.
Kullen & Co. was founded in 1913 by Paul Kullen and Wilhelm Epp. The wife of Paul Kullen joins in 1923 the company and with this Kullen & Co. Becomes a real family business. In 1970 Kullen takes the brush manufacturer Mez & Co over and the company name Kullen & Mez becomes synonymous for the brush technique in Germany. In 1975 the first subsidiary established RIB ( Record Industrial Brushes) is founded in England. In 1983 Dieter Kullen, the fourth generation of the family, becomes the company manager. In 1990, the Kullen group expands with the acquisition of Kleeneze Sealtech Ltd. in England. In order to become more known as a group, the name Kullen & Mez is changed in 1999 to Kullen GmbH & CO. KG "The World of Brush Technology".
In 2000 Kullen GmbH & CO. KG opens a sales office in the Czech Republic and in 2002 another a subsidiary company is established: HK Entgrattechnik. In 2012, the Kullen Group joins the KOTI Group. With this, the Groups strengthen their position as a market leader within Europe. In 2013 Kullen-Koti GmbH celebrates its 100th anniversary with a special logo and there is a big party for the occasion.
Over the years, with our expertise, knowledge and collaboration, we have created responsible growth of the group and thus stability for our customers and employees. This strong growth we wish to continue worldwide in the future. In order to achieve this, the group will make investments to improve the international production, sales and marketing activities. Important is that the customer remains our main focus and we keep an eye on the needs of our current and future customers. In addition quality also remains a priority for us.
